After the Deluge… Patriot Golf Day, 9/11

Hurricane Irene and Tropical Storm Lee have left our heads spinning these past few weeks. The course experienced 17 ” of rain over 10 days. We, of course, were not the only ones to suffer. Drainage work done over the past three years gave us a much better chance to dry out quickly. The course is coming back into its own, especially after the Fall aeration of tees and greens.

Bowling Green was pleased to once again participate in Patriot Golf Day. Thanks to our golfers, $394 was collected over Labor Day weekend for Folds of Honor, an organization which provides post secondary education scholarships for the families of killed or disabled military personnel.  In remembrance of the 10th anniversary of 9/11, Bowling Green pledged to donate 20% of cart fees over that weekend to the 9/11 Memorial Fund in support of ongoing expenses at the new Ground Zero Memorial. These two solemn occasions allow us to honor all those who have served to protect us.
